
Stretch / Strength (all ages)
Our goal for this class is to prepare our bodies to do the unusual and unique movements that separates dance from pedestrian movement.
Classes teach and integrate principles of movement with stability. Exercises are aimed at improving strength, flexibility, joint range of motion, co-ordination and balance. Utilising principles of Pilates and Yoga Pilates method as the basis of the conditioning work, we strive to integrate traditional floor conditioning principles into the"standing"ballet or dance class.
Particular attention can be paid to re-balance symmetry in the body upset by repetitive
movement patterns and overuse injuries. We encourage dancers to develop a greater awareness of the physiological demands of dance, thus educating them to finely tune their bodies. Dance conditioning is ideal for developing a steely inner core, and for enhancing performance by developing stamina, co-ordination and strength. The entire musculature becomes evenly balanced and conditioned, and so is less prone to injury.
