The Performance Studio Tutor Profile

Taryn Ryan  (Singer, Dancer, Actor Course - NIDA)

The Performance Studio

Taryn moved to Sydney at the start of 2007 to fill her place in NIDA's Singer Dancer Actor (SDA) class and graduated the same year. Prior to this, Taryn lived in QLD where she was heavily involved with a number of community theatre groups and dance studios. She began classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, and modern at the age of 5, made her musical theatre debut aged 9, and later began competing in a number of dance eisteddfods in and around Brisbane. Taryn was a core tutor at Beaudance Academy (QLD) for 3 years, teaching FATD set coursework (tap and jazz) and preparing students for exams, as well as choreographing routines for performances at local festivals and concerts. In Sydney, Taryn has passed on her love of dancing to primary aged children at Born To Perform holiday camps, as well as furthering her own experience by appearing in Sydney's Short Sweet + Song Festival 2008, 'The Hour We Knew Nothing Of Each Other' for the NIDA Open Program, and with her fellow SDA graduates wrote, produced and performed a successful season of their cabaret 'Flaw Play'. For something completely different, Taryn spends her days studying Linguistics and German as part of a Bachelor of Arts at UNSW.
