Uniform Requirements

 

TPS Dance

 

Dance uniform is strictly enforced at TPS Dance, as it not only allows the teachers to see the line of the dancers’ bodies and make corrections but also instils a sense of studio pride.  It is also a safety issue, as incorrect footwear or clothing can impede the student’s movements.  You can purchase all of these items at Bloch or any other dance store. Target and BIG W also carries a range of leotards for children.

We will be introducing TPS tracksuits and other attire throughout the year, but they won’t be compulsory just yet.  They will be optional in place of some of the items listed below.

Tiny Tots    Tiny Tots

• Girls - Light pink leotard with pink ballet stockings, black ¾ leggings or bare legs with white socks. Pink ballet shoes with elastics / jiffies and black tap shoes.
• Boys - White bonds singlet or t-shirt with black shorts or bike pants. White socks. Black ballet shoes / jiffies and black tap shoes.

 

Pre-Junior Combo    Tiny Tots

• Girls - Light pink leotard with pink ballet stockings. Black jazz pants or leggings can be worn over leotard for the tap and jazz portion of the class. Pink ballet shoes with elastics, black jazz shoes (not sneakers) and black tap shoes.
• Boys - White bonds singlet or t-shirt with black ¾ leggings or bike pants. Shorts may be worn over the top for jazz and tap portions. White socks. Black ballet shoes, black jazz shoes (no sneakers) and black tap shoes.

 

Junior, Pre-Senior and Senior Jazz and Tap    Tiny Tots

• Girls - Black leotard with ¾ black leggings or jazz pants. Firm fitting plain black singlet may be worn over the top of leotard. White socks. Black jazz shoes and black tap shoes.
• Boys - Well fitting black bonds singlet or t-shirt and black jazz pants or track pants. White socks, black jazz shoes and tap shoes.

 

Junior, Pre-Senior and Senior Ballet    Tiny Tots

• Girls - Black leotard, pink ballet stockings and pink ballet shoes with elastics.
• Boys - Black leotard or bonds singlet and ¾ black legging, white socks and black ballet shoes.

 

Stretch / Strength and Contemporary    Tiny Tots

• Girls - Black leotard and black jazz pants or ¾ leggings with jazz shoes or ballet shoes.
• Boys - Black bonds singlet or t-shirt with jazz pants, leggings or track pants.

 

Adult Jazz and Tap    Tiny Tots

• Comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and won’t restrict your movement.  Jazz shoes or jazz sneakers and tap shoes.

 

Hair    Tiny Tots

• Hair should be tied back and neat for all classes.
• Hair should not be on the face.
• Girls must wear their hair in a neat bun for all ballet classes.

 

Jewellery    Tiny Tots

• Due to safety precautions, only one set of stud earrings should be worn in class. Watches, rings and chains should be left at home as the students will be asked to take them off and we wouldn’t want these special items to go missing at the studio.

 

Jazz Sneakers    Tiny Tots

• Please note that we have asked for black jazz shoes as opposed to sneakers - as jazz sneakers limit the ability to strengthen young dancers’ feet and ankles (as well as being much more costly for growing children).  Pre-Senior’s upward may wear them, but we still prefer jazz shoes.
• Please ensure that their clothing fits well. Particularly the hems on their pants as this can present safety issues such as tripping or falling.

 

 

 

All Other Classes

• Loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and won’t restrict your movement.
• Jazz shoes, sneakers or any sensible non-slip closed shoes.

 

Singing / Choir    Tiny Tots

• Loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and won’t restrict your movement.
• Jazz shoes, sneakers or any sensible non-slip closed shoes.

 

Junior Musical Theatre    Tiny Tots

• Loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and won’t restrict your movement.
• Jazz shoes, sneakers or any sensible non-slip closed shoes.  Note: Jazz shoes MUST be worn in the Song & Dance Class.
